INTI-NEUQUÉN (PESTICIDES RESIDUES LABORATORY FROM THE TECHNICAL UNIT FOR 
INDUSTRIAL SERVICES AND TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE)

 

 Mandate of the Laboratory:

 In INTI Neuquén, our mission is to strengthen the public and
 private  sector related to food chain, regarding the pesticide
 issues, through  the technical assistance and the analytical tools 
 that we have, taking as final goal the rational use of pesticides.
 The laboratory analyzes pesticide residues in different samples
 checking compliance to national and international regulations. We
 also contribute with the farmers and field technicians to give
 them training related to the rational use of pesticides.

 Role in the farm-to-fork chain:

 Pesticide residue analyses in fruits, vegetables, water,
 wastewater and soils. Training of farmers and field technicians.
 Take part in job groups with other institutions in order to improve
 the field practices and reduce the misuse of pesticides.

 National Reference Laboratory:

 No. The food control system in Argentina is responsibility of
 SENASA (Servicio Nacional de Sanidad Alimentaria), under the
 authority of the Agriculture Ministry. They authorize laboratories
 in the country to perform the national monitoring program; those
 laboratories belong to a network. Our laboratory is recognized by
 SENASA in order to perform pesticide residues analyses in fruits
 and vegetables in our region.

 Type of contaminants analysed:

 Organochlorine, organophosphate, pyretroid and other pesticides
 in food and environmental samples.
 Organochlorines: Aldrin, Alpha-HCH, Beta-HCH, Heptachlor
 Epoxide, Delta-HCH, Dieldrin, Endosulfan, Endrin, Endrin
 Aldehide, Endrin ketone, Gamma-HCH, Heptachlor, Heptachor
 epoxide, metoxichlor, 4,4´ DDD, 4,4´DDE, 4,4´DDT.
 Organophosphates : Acephate, Azinphos-methyl,Chlorpyriphos,
 Diazinon; Dimethoate; Etion; Phosphamidon; Methamidophos,
 Triazophos.
 Pyretroids: Cyfluthrin, Cypermethrin, Permethrin, Fenvalerate
 Others: Captan, Ipodione, Imazalil, Diphenylamine

 Matrices analysed:

 Fruits and vegetables
 Water
 Wastewater
 Soil

 Combination matrices and contaminants
 analysed:

 We analyze organochlorine, organophosphorate ,pyretroid and
 other pesticides in all the matrices mentioned.

 Description of validated method used:

 AOAC international Method for pesticides residues in fruits and
 vegetables. Método Multiresiduo Miniaturizado de Luke. Manual
 de entrenamiento para laboratorio de plaguicidas (AOAC).
 EPA 507-508 Method for Organochlorine and organophosphates
 pesticide residues in water.
 EPA 3540C Method for pesticide residues in soils.
